What to Pack for Cabo, Mexico

I don’t know about you, but after the hustle and bustle of the holidays settle, come February/March I get that travel itch. Where it’s getting gradually colder in Charleston, making me crave a warm weather getaway. From Key West to Cabo a couple years ago, any excuse to head south!

Whenever I travel, part of the trip prep is checking upcoming weather patterns, planning + packing appropriate clothing. Parts of Mexico can be quite varied in temperature throughout the day, so looking at your forecast ahead of time to be prepared is a great way to start building your suitcase. Here’s my version of what to pack for Cabo, specially in February/March during high-season! That’s when you’ll find chilly mornings + evenings, with perfect poolside days.

SWIMWEAR

I shared on Instagram that I don’t typically ENJOY the art of shopping for swimwear. The whole, trying on a million sizes in the dressing room, having the brand rep ask ‘how’s it going in there’ as your love handles are squeezed over a tiny bottom piece that’s cut for a literal 12 year old…you know what I’m talking about. Needless to say, y’all had some great recommendations regarding swim lines to check out! One being Summersalt. I had heard of the brand, but hadn’t given it a go myself. After seeing the darling collection they did with Jacey Duprie, I ordered this ruffle number

CLOTHING

Easy, breezy + light. That’s what I’d stick to as you pack for Cabo. I bring a collection of mainly maxi + midi dresses that would transition well from the pool to dinner. I brought 3 dresses that were specific cover-ups for pool time, but the rest were versatile that could be worn for lunch in town, specialty dinner, etc.

ACCESSORIES

I always tend to overpack in this department. Because, you never know when you might need a shell shaped clutch or printed sarong – am I right?! But in reality, if you’re asking yourself what to pack for Cabo, my advice – keep it simple. I brought one crossbody + one clutch, which was perfect. But DO mix it up with fun, chunky jewelry! It will take up less space in your suitcase, while making a big impact on your outfits. Not to mention, I often find myself rocking a messy bun after a day at the pool. Bun + statement earrings is a match made in vacation heaven. A few brands I LOVE for unique earrings include: Nicola Bathie, Lele Sadoughi, Mango + Lisi Lerch to name a few.

FOOTWEAR

If you’re traveling to Cabo {or Mexico in general}, leave the heels at home. No one really wears them, and if you plan on doing any walking tours or excursions, you won’t need them. Instead, fill your suitcase with neutral sandals, flats and maybe one pair of wedges for dinners. For one week away, I’d recommend 2 sandals, 1 wedge + 1 comfy sneaker, if you’re trying to be conservative.
