A couple weekends ago, my nearest + dearest gathered in celebration of our baby boy. And what an incredible afternoon it was! Naturally, I was filled with so much excitement and overall bliss, that it honestly all went by SO fast. Between hosting family from out of town, friends visiting and connecting with so many friends – it was a whirlwind, in the best sense. And I wouldn’t have changed a single thing. I find myself re-reading some of the sweet notes of encouragement and kindness given to our family, and am still just in such awe of the amount of love surrounding our son. I’m so encouraged and grateful this little boy has such an incredible support system waiting for him, and can’t wait for him to meet our amazing friends + family that love him so very much already.

Beatrix Potter Themed Baby Shower

I’ll admit, while my sweet friends handled the execution and overall planning of the shower, I did have a hand in the theme and suggesting a few elements. I just can’t help myself!! Haha. As I mentioned briefly in his nursery theme post, I initially toyed with the idea of a Beatrix Potter themed nursery. Which to this day, I still love the thought of. But when I went in a different direction decor wise, thought it would be fun to play off of a Beatrix Potter themed baby shower instead! It could not have been more perfect. It felt warm, inviting + cozy, and full of my favorite people. I love the intimacy that only hosting at someone’s home can provide, so was incredibly thankful to my sweet friend Monica of Lavin Label for opening her home for such a special occasion.

From the vine printed linens to the mini herb thank yous, it was a quintessential garden party. I suggested using weathered planters + herbs in place of your traditional flower arrangements. A great cost savings tip, not to mention they last longer! And I absolutely loved that my hosts were able to use items I already owned to sprinkle the space with. It just felt so very me – in the best way.

Catering

Brunch is my favorite meal, so when it came to picking a shower timeframe, I knew early afternoon would be my preference. Mainly for the food selection, obviously. Haha.

I knew local favorite Hamby Catering would be a perfect fit. After a girlfriend reached out regarding my shower, they generously offered to gift an incredible spread! So very fitting for the day, complete with homemade pop-tarts {yes, you read that correctly}, deviled eggs, egg salad sandwiches, and my personal favorite, mini tomato pies.

Hamby also catered our Wedding in 2016, so it was wonderful having them be a part of yet another special chapter for our family. We love you, Hamby team!!!

Table Touches

Vintage books borrowed from our bookcase, potted plants {most in my favorite Bergs planters}, and simple, fresh flowers adorned the tables. Even snuck in a few faux plants as filler – this lavender is actually a very tasteful faux.

PRO TIP: add preserved moss to a faux potted plants to make them look more real and add some texture.

An extra special touch was the antique collection of Beatrix Potter books my Mom found about a week before the shower! They’re not in perfect condition, but the character and thoughtfulness behind the addition just make them all the more special. I love the tattered covers and discolored bindings. I’d like to look into getting them restored, but until then, plan on using them in baby’s nursery!

Shower Activity

In place of a game {not my personal favorite at showers}, my dear friend Sara of Beau & Ro came up with the most unique activity for guests to partake in. Blockprinting onesies! She’s recently traveled to India multiples times to support the Artisans that make her fabric + dresses, so brought back a few of the authentic blocks. Guests enjoyed adding paint to the blocks and creating true one of kind pieces for our little one.

The onesies were pinned to cardboard boards so guests could sign their name by their ‘art’. Looking through them all and seeing each friend’s individuality was so fun!

So special to have babies great-grandmothers on both sides there!
