After every move we’ve ever done, inevitably the guest room ends up being a top priority, and typically the first room completed! Always unexpectedly, but also for good reason. It’s important to us for family + friends to feel at home and cozy when they visit. And the fact that we’re currently residing in the guest room while we focus on other projects before our Main Bedroom, is definitely aiding that progress.
I set out to make an escape-focused theme, that ultimately transformed into a Palm Beach inspired guest room. And I could not be more thrilled. We spent many years in Florida, so it feels only fitting we would have a room inspired by it. From working with DecoratorsBest and Scalamandre to incorporate this Balinese Peacock Wallpaper in the bathroom, to shell and bamboo details throughout. It’s really coming along, still a ways out, so similarly to other rooms in our new home – I wanted to share the inspiration behind this Palm Beach inspired guest room! Along with a few major plans/details like paint selection, lighting, curtains, etc.
Bamboo Accents
Affordable Curtains
This beautiful, vertical print by Pepper Home was one of the first fabrics I saw and fell in love with for this room. It’s such a fun, fresh take on that botanical/tropical aesthetic and I knew it would be the perfect addition. Can’t wait to share what special project I have in store for these beauties!
If you’re unfamiliar, Pepper Home is a wonderful, affordable resource for custom curtains + fabrics with great turnaround times.
Paint Colors
The original plan was to paint the walls in this room, Benjamin Moore ‘Horizon’ and the trim BM ‘White Dove’ {as is the trim throughout the majority of the home}. But at the last minute, I opted to inverse the two. So we have Horizon on all the trim and a clean White Dove palette on the walls. It’s so soothing and really fits the space, plus allows me to bring in lots of layers of blue with bedding and an upholstered headboard.
Plaster Fixture
This was the only fixture we took from our previous home. I loved it so much, and knew we’d eventually find a place for it. At first, she was slated for the Laundry Room, and then our Main Bedroom. But ultimately this beautiful, white plaster masterpiece by AERIN via Circa Lighting was absolutely perfect for our Palm Beach inspired guest room. I opted for the ‘medium’ size for reference. It lets off a decent amount of light for this room that doesn’t have additional cans. I also have two side table lamps and a floor lamp for additional lighting.
