Palm Print Pillow |similar Fuchsia Chair | Gold Full Length Mirror | Hat Rack {used for crossbody bags}
I love how bright and airy this room feels when the blinds are open. The outdoor plants + trees almost act as built-in art work, and sort of work perfectly for the palm and pink office vibe I was going for here.
Ah, the shoe wall. Each place Sterling and I have lived in post-college has had a shoe wall of some kind. You may remember this beauty from our Townhouse, now this being #2.0, and I’m currently working with a contractor to complete shoe wall #3.0 in our new Charleston home! Can’t wait to share once that’s all completed as well.
Since this space is a rental property, I didn’t have the ability to do built-ins again. BUT I came up with a super affordable + just as pretty solution via Ikea! Y’all have probably seen these floating shelves used in multiple ways across the web, and I’m here to say…they also work perfectly for shoes! And always…always, always pay for the Ikea install. It will save your sanity! Haha. Promise. The install guy was great – I measured and marked where I wanted each shelf to sit, and he took care of the rest. This wall was a little smaller then our last place, so I ended up rotating spring/summer shoes with fall/winter from the storage unit, which worked pretty well.
I keep a specific clothing rack in my office dedicated to new pieces that I need to photography/feature for upcoming projects. That way they’re at the forefront of my mind {and eyes really}, and don’t get shuffled into the closet {i.e. lost forever haha}.
I purchased this amazing faux banana tree on Amazon {obsessed with it!} and used these upper cabinets from Ikea to store new beauty products, office supplies, etc. The framed palm fabric seen here was a little office DIY. I purchased these square gold frames, removed the glass and inserted cork board squares. I also had the cork squares covered in palm print fabric to match the room – but they’re fully functional cork boards – perfect for mood boards and brainstorming ideas!
This bottom credenza is actually advertised as an entertainment center, but it was cheaper purchasing this pre-designed model then the ‘make it yourself’ that Ikea offers. We then requested a flat piece of glass across the top, as opposed to the version with an opening for cords to pass through. I then added the gold bar pulls to jazz it up a bit! The two upper, glass-front cabinets are from the same Ikea collection and are perfect for displaying pretty little items in your space.
Big thanks to Handy for helping me hang this section of the office perfectly! If you’re not familiar with the site, you can hire local handymen to come to your home for a number of home related services – i.e. hanging photos on the wall, cleaning, plumbing, etc – all easily coordinated in one place by Handy.
How sweet is this this beautiful custom illustration by Holly Nichols of me in my wedding gown!? Socialyte surprised me with it shortly after Sterling + I returned from our honeymoon. I hadn’t even really published any photos of me in my dress, so it was by far one of my favorite wedding gifts – so thoughtful – love my S+Co. fam!
And there you have it. I hope you’ve enjoyed my Palm + Pink Office tour! These days I’m pouring my design ideas into the concept of my Charleston office at the new house. Cannot wait to share more home decor with y’all! I’ve tried to include credit/links to as many pieces seen here as possible, but if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
looks beautiful. how far apart did you place the shelves?
I would say it depends on two things: 1) how tall your wall is in the first place (measure/space evenly according to height of wall), and 2) how tall is your tallest shoe. If you’re looking to store tall boots on your shoe wall, you could also consider having the bottom 1/2 shelves spaced further apart to allow room for tall boots, and the rest of the shelving evenly spaced for a cohesive look.
