Setting your holiday table doesn’t have to always be lavish. Sure there’s a time and place for formal china and heirloom flatware, but there’s also room for something a bit more casual. Especially when we’re talking about outdoor dining. I wanted to create some inspiration for the later, which ended in this pretty little set up! Soft velvet, patterned napkins, oh yes. And a mix of layered faux + fresh greenery with a mini Christmas tree centerpiece as the focal point.
Pear Place Settings
I love incorporating fruit into a tablescape when I can. From citrus to pumpkins, fruit adds a pop of color and texture to the table. In this case, I felt yellow pears paired perfectly with the hints of warm golds in these India Amory linens. The combination isn’t overly ‘holiday’ on it’s own, but layered with the mini Christmas tree centerpiece, velvet accents and background wreaths – island holiday vibes appear.
How To Create A Mini Christmas Tree Centerpiece
I wanted to create a simple centerpiece without the use of florals. Using items you may already have in our holiday decor box and hopefully make this set-up pretty accessible! I already had several mini trees from previous years, and then purchased a few more from my local Michaels {also available online} for an added mix of colors, textures + heights.
Most mini trees will be wrapped with burlap at the base – not quite the look I was going for here. Simply cut + remove any burlap or additional embellishments at the base of your trees. You’ll most likely find a small cement mold exposed at the base, which will fit nicely into small hurricanes or baskets. I prefer full woven hurricanes {like these from Amanda Lindroth}, that way you don’t have to worry about the cement being exposed. Top off your vessels with a little moss to hide any imperfections and a natural element. Layer them in throughout the center of the table for a beautiful mini Christmas tree centerpiece! You could even sprinkle in some tea lights {as I’ve done here} or twinkle lights if that’s more your style.
