This past weekend I escaped to Cashiers, North Carolina High Hampton Resort to experience some fall bliss…FINALLY! I can’t believe we’re already mid-October, and it still feels like full on summer in Charleston. Legit 91 degrees on Wednesday. What is that?! Alas, a little weekend getaway to the mountains was just what I needed to jump start {even if just temporarily} my fall feels! I packed all the sweaters and scarves my suitcase could hold…yes, for 2 nights. Ha.
Why Cashiers, you ask? I was technically on a blogger/influencer trip with Toyota {more on that later}, but had lots of free time to explore around High Hampton Resort. The property is actually huge, and multi-faceted. I could have spent an entire week there {heck – or ever longer} and been very content. They offer tons of activities right on-site. Everything from spa services and a you-pick dahlia farm, to golf and llama walks {yes, you read that correctly}. Llama walks! It’s a great family friendly spot, while also perfectly fitting for a wedding or girl’s weekend. I felt like I was at camp again!
The crisp mountain air really brought me back to my Colorado roots. Growing up, fall was always my Mom’s favorite season, and rightfully so! Oh my goodness, the foliage, the clear air, the smell of campfires…I love it all. We always spent a lot of time as a family in the mountains around this time of year. Taking foliage drives through the Rockies and visiting our favorite streams and picnic stops. Being at High Hampton Resort really brought back those feelings for me, which was special. Mom, sis and I have been trying to do an annual fall leaf peeping road trip, which sadly we had to cancel this year.
Our first morning at High Hampton Resort, Julie and I decided to take the canoes out for a spin. A spin? A float? You know what I mean. The lake was so calm, and not many other guests were out there, so we had the water all to ourselves. Pure bliss! Since it was a good chilly, I took this as my opportunity to bundle up a little. This ASOS sweater is becoming a staple of mine this fall. Available in a few other colors as well! It’s the perfect basic to throw on with jeans or over a dress/skirt.
This outfit is a classic. I like the denim paired with the warm tones. hooray for Autumn! I wish this season lasted a bit longer.
Happy Saturday, Kristin
