Our outdoor courtyard has been such an escape as of late. I know we’ve all been spending more time at home this year {the theme of 2020}, and as the temperatures finally start to dip here in South Carolina, I’m finding any excuse to dine outdoors. From our screened in porch, to the back courtyard, both spaces are absolute perfection this time of year and just begging for a fall tablescape or two.
Each season I love dreaming up different colorways to play with on the table. From mustard + mauve to floral farmhouse, putting together a fall tablescape is always fun! The past few weeks, I’ve really been drawn to warmer hues in the yellow, mustard + brown family. After a visit to a local nursery and stumbled upon this incredibly vibrant marigolds
Setting the table for a Fall Tablescape
When I decided on this marigold + sage color palette, I automatically knew I wanted to incorporate a variety of terra cotta pots down the center of the table as a ‘centerpiece’. This is a great way to incorporate flowers into your fall tablescape without spending additional funds on single stems that last a week or so. Instead, consider grabbing a few of your porch mums or herbs to sub-in as florals! This style of layered potted plants always reminds me of the English countryside, and our trip to The Cotswolds. Something I need to remember to do more of in future!
From there, I’d encourage you to use what you have in your collection and layer in! Maybe throw in a new linen napkin or vintage glassware to switch things up. But florals alone can add so much to your fall tablescape, as they’re worked into what you may already have on hand.
Casual Thanksgiving Outfit
When I entertain in my own home, I typically like to keep my attire comfortable and casual. Always keeping in mind that I’ll be the one moving around the most; filling glasses, running items to/from the 8ikitchen, etc. Therefore, I rarely wear heels in my own home, and {maybe} too often find myself trotting around in my go-to Birdies loafers. They’re simply the best!
If you’re looking to keep things casual in the attire department this Thanksgiving, I can’t recommend this 3/4 sleeve cardigan enough! It’s available in a multitude of colors, and a year after year favorite. If you’re more of a dress gal {like your’s truly}, I adore this Emerson Fry maxi or this printed midi dress would also be a great option!
