One of my favorite things about my recent trip to Cashiers, NC was grazing through the dahlia farm at High Hampton Inn! So much so, that Julie and I actually visited the field two days in a row. We were informed that a frost was coming shortly after our stay. Therefore, the property staff encouraged us to pluck as many stems as our little hearts desire. So, well…we went for it! I’ll admit, I felt kind of bad at first {I mean, all those flowers!!}, but given the pending weather, we were basically saving them. Right?! This was by far the largest dahlia farm I’ve ever seen! Luckily for us, we happened upon it during peak season {which evidently was actually quite a bit later then usual}.
If you find yourself visiting High Hampton Inn, be sure to bring a vase along with you! The resort was kind enough to lend us scissors and vases, but having our own would have been even easier for transporting them back home. Although I will say, these dahlias held up pretty well on our 5+ hours drive back to Charleston.
This pink/mauve pullover was the perfect low-key ensemble for frolicking around in nature. I could seriously be happy in this fuzzy blanket of a top every single day this fall. The perfect amount of warmth, and is available in great color ways. I’m in an XS here for reference, but could have also gone with a Small {as I did in this similar style}. Paired with comfy leggings and riding boots – I felt right at home in the North Carolina mountains. They might not be the Rockies, but the crisp air so just what the Dr. ordered to get into the fall spirit.
High Hampton Dahlia garden is only open to guest or members. anyonelse will be turned around.
we deeply appreciate it.
