These last few months, I’ve found myself working in an ‘office’ setting again – or shall I say, more than usual. Don’t worry, I still have my days at-home in leggings and oversized sweaters. For which I love. But I’ve found myself enjoying dressing up {a tad} in a casual work wear outfit, and heading to the office with Sterling or even out to Kiawah River for work/brainstorming sessions. Sometimes it’s tough to remember I’ve been working from home for years, but I honestly don’t think I’ll ever fully adjust to it. I miss the comradely and companionship that comes with being in an office. The banter, the co-worker chatter – you’d be surprised how lonely it can get working with yourself and your Alexa/Spotify playlist day after day haha. Especially since Sterling isn’t in Charleston too much right now to grace me with the presence of his phone pacing. Not that I’m complaining! But sometimes it’s the little things we miss when routine shifts.
Nevertheless, I’ve been trying to designate at least one day a week to working away from the house. Putting on actual clothes to compile a casual work wear outfit {just like old times} and stepping out for some fresh air, conversation with other humans {even if it’s just a barista haha} and accomplishing tasks away from the distractions at home. It’s making a big difference I think! Although I could still use some help adjusting my to-do/checklist while I work off-site. Any suggestions on that front?
The Swacket
Not much has changed in the casual work wear outfit department, I’m afraid. I’m still a sucker for separates. A well tailored blazer was always my go to at my 9-5. Blazers are just the perfect piece to pair with everything – a dress, jeans, trousers. It’s a great piece to have in your wardrobe. However, today I’m bringing you and entirely new take on the blazer. One my friends and I like to call – The Swacket. HA. Sweater + jacket. True story – Laura of Strawberry Banke Studio made this her signature piece last year. Sara and I loved it so much, we had to get ‘swackets’ of our own! So now combined I think we own at least 6 different colors of this versatile style. It’s a goodie, folks, and so appreciate for your fall/winter work attire.
You can never go wrong with a Mid-length blazer for work. I keep several in my closet, all colors and patterns.
