Can y’all believe it’s basically MAY!? And just like that, we’re on to shorts {or short suits in this case} season. I know many of us {myself included} cringe at the thought of wearing shorts, but there’s hope! The key to rocking shorts in the summer is finding the perfect FIT. I know it sounds silly, but I find shorts to be the hardest piece of clothing to purchase for myself. No joke, the hardest. Not bathing suits, or trousers…shorts. Gone are my days of wearing cut-off ‘booty’ shorts, instead I love looking for longer lengths in a more tailored fabric.
LINE to LOVE
Alas, last year I was introduced to the Pearl by Lela Rose line and absolutely LOVED everything about it. If you’ve been following along via IG stories, this may sound familiar. I gushed over Lela’s design process, her silhouettes, and her choice of fabrics. And most importantly, the FIT. Her cuts and attention to detail are something you just don’t see for a line at this price point. Lela has been able to keep the line at a more affordable price point by selling direct-to-consumer, via local stylists + now an e-commerce platform {YAY}! The entire line is a lot lighter on the wallet, compared to her signature label, while still being incredibly well crafted. Yes, still an investment for most {these aren’t ‘fast fashion price points’}, but I found the pieces to be extremely versatile – making your cost per wear well worth the buy!
And what could be better than just a single pair of adorable checkered shorts? Why, a matching short suit of course! Is this not the cutest little duo you’ve ever seen?! The second I tried it on during the downtown Charleston truck show with stylist Lindsey Nowak, I knew it was truly meant for my closet. The two pieces together are brilliant, but I also love them on their own. I can see myself wearing the blazer with a comfy tee, white jeans + wedges. Or the shorts with a button down and slides. So many options!
If you haven’t checked out Pearl by Lela Rose, I encourage you to!! And if you’re local to Charleston, reach out to Lindsey for an questions! She’ll be doing in-person trunk shows season to season, which is an amazing way to really touch, feel + fall in love with the line.
