Planning for New York Fashion Week is no joke. Usually takes me weeks to prepare, source pieces for outfits, find the best shoes and accessories, put together all my tech gadgets etc. Not to mention, the weather in September is hit/miss – sometimes it’s pretty toasty and other times it’s more on the ‘fall’ weather scale. Unfortunately this season, I put in all the work….and ended up cancelling my trip the morning of my flight. Womp womp.
You may have see the story play out on my IG stories, but our puppy Parker was super sick the entire week leading up to NYFW. He is getting older {he’s now 9}, so I was a little nervous since I had never seen him that sick for such a longer period of time. That on top of the fact that Sterling was out of town + a gigantic hurricane {Irma} was barreling her way to the Southeast. It just wasn’t a good time to up and leave our home and puppy to chance. It was a tough call, but looking back it was the right decision. Sterling ended up getting stuck in South Florida {after his flight home was cancelled due to Irma}, Parked ultimately needed lots of Vet supervision and multiple visits, and after tons of back and forth regarding should we evacuate or not, our family ended up crashing at our place to wait out the hurricane. Phew.
Nevertheless, I wanted to share a couple of the looks I was planning to wear while in NYC! One of which being this darling Embroidered Bodice Dress I pulled from Beckett Boutique. Beckett is one of the cutest boutiques in downtown Charleston, and the sweet owners are a great eye for the latest styles + designs. This dress would have been perfect for a rooftop cocktail party + dinner I had on the calendar. It’s light and airy feeling, while still being elegant and tasteful.
