Today I’m kicking off a fun new series on Living In Color Print – 5 Ways! This will encompass not just fashion, but also lifestyle, home decor, travel, etc. – the categories + topics are endless. Hope y’all enjoy, as I had a blast coming up with ideas!
This is my first time rocking a turtleneck under a classic white button-down {this is my favorite tunic – styled above}, and I LOVE it! It’s a simple look to put together, as I think we all have a white button down to spare, yet also ultra chic and effortless. It’s not over-stylized, and sticks to the principle that you can never go wrong with black + white.
Under a formal dress – this is a great way to keep wearing your spring/summer dresses into the fall/winter months! Toss a turtleneck underneath {and maybe some tights} and you’re appropriate for chillier temps. The form-fitting silhouette on top, stays true to the formality of the dress.
Jazz up your basic turtleneck top with a statement coat. I also like pairing this with black skinny jeans to keep the base of the outfit uniform, allowing the coat to pop!
My personal favorite – the sleeveless duster. I seriously can’t get enough of them! This black, tailored option with the turtleneck elevated the entire ensemble. It’s not overly complicated when you break down the look piece-by-piece, but put together there’s something ultra chic happening here. The same could be said if you were wearing a pencil skirt, skinny jeans, or even leather leggings on bottom.
Under a maxi dress – this is something I’ll be honest, I don’t know if I can really pull off. Haha. BUT it’s a trend and a way to style a turtleneck circa the 90’s that’s making a comeback. I don’t think it’s here to stay, but hey – fashion is supposed to be fun, so if you’re diggin’ this look, give it a whirl!
I hope y’all enjoyed this first ‘5 Ways’ installment! I’m working on making it a more regular series on LICP, as a way to show versatility in your wardrobe. You don’t always have to go out and purchase new pieces week after week or season after season. Some items are classics and will stand the test of time – i.e. the basic black turtleneck.
