Following SXSW, Christina + I embarked on a little road trip to Dallas. Leave it to two bloggers, cameras, coffee, and food pit stops {I couldn’t resist In & Out Burger!!} to make a 3 1/2 hour trip look more like 6 hours. Haha. But, hey – at least we took some cool road-side pics, right?!

While I’m used to driving around in something a bit larger, this bite-sized car was exactly what we needed to navigate the streets of Austin. Since we arrived several days prior to the official start of SXSWi {the interactive portion of the conference}, the Mirage gave us the opportunity to explore the ‘real’ Austin – before the crowds descended {check out more of my Austin adventures}. Its’ compact size was perfect for squeezing into tiny spaces {spaces I wouldn’t dare to even look at while in my SUV back home}, parking virtually anywhere, and making lots {and I mean lots} of u-turns. Getting lost in new cities is kind of my thing. Ha. Needless to say, the Mirage didn’t disappoint on the open road either, with 44 mpg on the highway, this little nugget got us around Austin + to Dallas, all on a little more than 1 tank of gas. Crazy good. All of that, plus surprisingly allowing luggage space for two large bags, carry-ones + some additional little items. Although it’s a small engine car {three cylinder}, it’s certainly a fantastic commuter option + is the most affordable new vehicle in America right now {starting under $13K}.
