Entertaining is something I’ve quickly become quite fond of since moving to Charleston, and having a larger space that allows for hosting. Everything from the glassware and flatware, to the flowers and food – there’s something almost therapeutic about pulling it all together. The joy that comes from seeing your guests enjoy the experience and atmosphere you’ve created is pretty special.
When you think of Avon, makeup + skincare is probably what comes to mind. I know I can remember using Avon Skin So Soft since I was a kid {who’s with me?}! However in recent years, Avon has expanded their product line to include fashion + home. So, with the anticipation of spring {who’s as ready as I am?!}, I’m thrilled to partner with Avon today to share one of their capsule lifestyle collections – Modern Southern Belle!
The collection is full of fun blue, white, floral + gingham pieces. From my bell sleeve, embroidered top to these darling gingham sneakers – Avon’s Modern Southern Belle collection oozes southern style. I wanted to pull fun, vibrant pops of color from their floral salad plates for my outdoor spring set-up. Adding yellow tulips + fresh oranges did just the trick. All of the patterns + textures played off one another beautifully. Even the embroidery on my blouse coordinated in a subtle way. As a hostess, you should always be dressed for the occasion. Not necessarily matchy-matchy with your table {you don’t need to wear the tablecloth haha}, but certainly cohesive enough to tie everything together when your guests arrive.
TIPS for SPRING ENTERTAINING
- Fresh Blooms | Fresh flowers always add cheer to any entertaining space. If you’re not comfortable with, or don’t have the time to dedicate, to playing with different flowers for an arrangement, stick with one varietal. Volume is key is you’re going with one single type of bloom – the more the merrier!
- Fresh Fruit | Fruit is a simple and affordable way to add different shapes, texture, and of course color to your space. Think citrus for spring: lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruit.
- Pattern Play | Don’t take entertaining too seriously! There’s no right way to do it. Playing with different patterns like floral + stripes, dots + stripes, etc. will make your space feel fun and inviting.
